Diet culture is all around us. It’s on tv, podcasts, magazines, you name it and it’s there. But before you head into the new year with a new plan on how 2022 is the year that you finally shed the pounds theres a few things I’d like you to think about.

According to this Livestrong article “Nearly 65 percent of dieters return to their pre-dieting weight within three years.” Could you imagine buying any other product with a 65% failure rate?

So what does your failure mean for the diet industry? It means you put money right back into it.

If diets really worked in the long run, companies like weight watchers would be out of business. But these companies know that 65% of people will gain the weight back and they’ll be right back on the diet bandwagon within 3 years.

I first read this information in The Fuck it Diet. This book completely changed my mindset towards diets and toxic diet culture. It’s allowed me to develop a better relationship with food and in turn a better more healthy relationship with myself. It’s also put more money back into my pockets because I’m not constantly putting money into diets that are not sustainable.

How do you feel about diets?
